Take-Off Technician

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Take-Off Technician to join our team. As a Take-Off Technician, you will play a crucial role in accurately estimating project costs and materials required for various painting projects. Your expertise in quantifying project scopes and gathering essential data will directly contribute to our company’s success in delivering high-quality services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Assessment: Collaborate with project managers and estimators to analyze project plans, specifications, and blueprints to gain a comprehensive understanding of the painting project’s requirements.
  2. Material Quantity Calculation: Accurately measure and quantify the amount of paint, primers, coatings, and other materials needed for each project based on the provided project documentation.
  3. Cost Estimation: Utilize industry-standard software and tools to calculate the total cost of materials required for each project, considering factors like surface area, labor, waste, and specific product specifications.
  4. Vendor Relations: Liaise with suppliers and vendors to obtain up-to-date pricing for painting materials, ensuring that all quotes align with project requirements and budgetary constraints.
  5. Database Management: Maintain an organized and up-to-date database of material costs, suppliers, and other relevant information to expedite future take-off processes and improve accuracy.
  6. Value Engineering: Offer suggestions for cost-saving alternatives and value engineering opportunities while maintaining the desired quality standards for each project.
  7. Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements, and new products in the painting and construction field, and integrate this knowledge into your estimating practices.
  8. Collaboration: Work closely with the estimating team and project managers to discuss and validate take-off results, ensuring alignment with project objectives and client expectations.
  9. Quality Assurance: Double-check and review take-off calculations to ensure accuracy, minimizing potential errors that may lead to cost overruns or delays.
  10. Timely Delivery: Complete take-off assignments within established timelines, enabling the estimating team to prepare comprehensive and competitive bids for prospective projects.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

 

– Previous experience as a Take-Off Technician or similar role in the painting or construction industry is highly preferred.

– Proficiency in using industry-standard take-off software and tools for accurate material quantification and cost estimation. eTakeoff or similar software, (Planswift -Bluebeam – On-Screen).

– Strong understanding of painting materials, applications, and product specifications.

– Familiarity with construction documents, blueprints, and technical drawings.

– Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work with precision.

– Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.

– Strong communication and interpersonal abilities for effective collaboration with team members and vendors.

– Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

– Knowledge of industry regulations, safety practices, and environmental considerations related to painting projects.
